Fay Aemisegger

Fay Aemisegger, 88, formerly of Clarksville, TN, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Fay was born April 5, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Charles and Amy (Giedinghagen) Murphy. She grew up and attended school in Bourbon, MO, at which she enjoyed participating in school athletics. She and her sister both worked for their parents’ independent telephone company located in Bourbon. After graduating from high school, she attended a business school in St. Louis. Fay was united in marriage to Otto “Pete” Aemisegger on April 26, 1952 in Bourbon and to this union their daughter, Connie, was born. With Pete in the service, they spent time in Georgia and Tennessee before settling in Clarksville, TN. Fay was a loving mother and enjoyed time raising their daughter. While Connie was in Girl Scouts, Fay was quite active in the organization. Later in life, she assisted the local church ladies in the food kitchen. She was an excellent seamstress and was especially skilled in needlework. Fay also loved to play golf and one year, she won the Ladies City Amateur Tournament in Clarksville. In 2007, she moved to Atlanta, to make her final home near her daughter. She continued to follow various sporting events on television, especially men’s golf and women’s basketball.

Fay is survived by her daughter, Connie Kagey (and her husband, J. Forrest) of Doraville, GA; a sister, Fern Carter of Columbia, MO; Fern’s daughters, her nieces: Linda Sappington of Ashland, MO and Nancy Baker of Germantown, WI; numerous nieces and nephews from the family of her late husband, Pete; and numerous other great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete and her parents.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO. Interment followed at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to be made in Fay’s memory to the United Methodist Children’s Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA or at the website www.umchildrenshome.org (phone number 404-327-5820). Contributions in Fay’s memory to your favorite charity will also be appreciated.
