Everett E. ‘Gene’ Miller
Everett Eugene “Gene” Miller, age 88, of Mendon, IL, formerly of Sullivan, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Gene was born on November 7, 1931 in Crawford County, near Potosi, MO, the son of John and Easter (Parker) Miller. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. When he retired from the Navy in 1970, Gene had reached rank E-8. He worked various other jobs through the years, and eventually retired from Tradeco Construction in 1999. Gene farmed for a time in the Sullivan area before moving to Memphis, MO in September of 2005. He then moved to Mendon, IL in 2011, where he remained until his passing. Gene will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and many friends.
Gene is survived by his children: Mark Miller, Sr. of St. Louis, MO, Deborah Hastings of California, Linda Rhodes of Florida, Mike Miller and his wife, Betsy of Sullivan and Ann Dixon and her husband, Bill of Mendon, IL; a brother, James “Jimmy” Miller and his wife, Terri of Sullivan; four sisters: Shirley Halfaker and her husband, Charles of Leasburg, MO, Lily Beers and husband, James of Linn, MO, Mary Posenke and husband, Howard of Troy, MO, and Connie Pennock of Bourbon, MO; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Clyde, Herbert, Bill, Roy and Kenneth Miller; and two sisters, Verline Posenke and Helen Knuckles.

Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, officiated by Pastor Josh Wright. Burial followed in Cave Spring Cemetery, Sullivan.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
