Eugene L. Hofstetter, 78, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Eugene Lonnie Hofstetter was born in St. Louis, MO, October 20, 1941, to the late Eugene W. and Alma (Walker) Hofstetter. He attended grade school at St. Anthony Catholic School and graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1960. Eugene was united in marriage to Naomia “Joan” Vaughn on June 3, 1961, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They were later blessed with two children, Angela and Rick. 

For most of his life, Eugene worked as a Superintendent in the road construction industry; namely, Fred Weber and Bloomsdale Construction. He retired in 2006. Eugene was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3781. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and boat rides. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Joan Hofstetter of Sullivan; his two children, Angela Bloomner & husband, Darrel Bloomner, Jr. of Sullivan, and Rick Hofstetter & Jeanette Hofstetter of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren: Devin & Cassie Keethler, Robert Hofstetter and significant other, Brianna Hanneken, Veronica Bloomner, Miranda Hofstetter, and Kearstin Hofstetter; two great-grandchildren, Makenna & Ezra; one brother in law, Larry Missey & wife, Delores, of Union, MO; one sister in law, Machell Beard & husband, Larry, of Sullivan, MO; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Alma Hofstetter; one sister, Gloria Schatz; father-in-law, Delmer Vaughn; mother-in-law, Beulah Gregory; and brother-in-law, Leonard Schatz.  

Funeral Mass was  conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, with Father Tim Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Martyrs Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Memorial contributions in Eugene’s memory may be made to BJC Hospice.
