Elsie M. Halmick, 92, of Washington, MO, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at StoneBridge Senior Living in Hermann, MO.

Elsie Mae was born in North Liberty, Iowa, on August 22, 1927, to the late Frank and Bertha (Maxie) Teeter. She grew up and attended school in Iowa. Elsie was united in marriage to Ray E. Halmick on February 18, 1946, and to their union four children were born. They resided in the Elmont area for many years. Elsie worked various jobs prior to Rays passing in 1976. After his passing, she went back to school to obtain her teaching license through Montessori International. Elsie eventually founded Sullivan’s Montessori School in 1979. She spent time in both Texas and California teaching Montessori, before retiring in the mid 1990’s. Elsie then came back to Washington to make her final home.  She enjoyed time spent with friends and family.

Elsie is survived by three children: Karen Gardner and husband, Dennis of Cape Girardeau, MO, Kathy Sickendick and husband, Dale of Gerald, MO, and William Halmick and wife, Betty of Elmont, MO; eight grandchildren: Jacob, Jess, Aarron, Jamie, Caleb, Sam, Blaine, and Jessica; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Teeter and wife Joanne of Quapaw, OK; and other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Anne; her parents, Frank and Bertha Teeter; two brothers, Bill and Pat Teeter; and two sisters, Dorothy Randlemann and Evelyn Bragg.

Private Graveside Services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Crow Cemetery in Sullivan.
