Edna F. Britton
Edna F. Britton, age 79, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Delmar Gardens of Chesterfield.
Edie was born on November 27, 1938 in Hettinger, ND, to Rev. George and Frances Helen Jarvis. She grew up to be a life long learner and educator. Edie was united in marriage to Homer Britton on May 23, 1977. She taught in the Sullivan Public Schools for 14 years. For 32 years, she faithfully worked alongside Homer in their restaurant, Homer’s BBQ. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sullivan for 40-plus years, where she taught Sunday School, taught VBS, was the church librarian, served in Children’s Church and once in a while, she would play a piano offertory that she had arranged herself. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends.
Edie is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Homer Britton; 6 children, Courtney Mathis and husband Micah, Jonathan Chase Britton (Homer Lee Jr.) and wife Judy, Britt Britton (Candy), Rick Britton and wife Carmela, Missy Wetzker and husband Orlin, and Tania Pryor; two brothers, George Jarvis and wife Mary, and Charles Jarvis and wife Jan; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. George Jarvis and her mother, Frances Helen Jarvis.
Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Sullivan, with Pastors Chester Lahmann and Micah Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in Cherryville Baptist Cemetery in Cherryville, MO.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Sullivan.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church in Sullivan.
