Dorthy E. Austin, age 82, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan, surrounded by her family. 

Dorthy Evelean Parker was born on February 29, 1936 in Huzzah, MO, to Herman Alexander and Lester Gladine (Ash) Parker.  She was one of ten children. As a young lady, Dorthy apprenticed as a beautician and from 1971 to 1987, she owned and operated her own shop called Glamor Boutique. She was united in marriage to Larry Austin on June 1, 1984, and they celebrated 34 years together. Dorthy enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for others. She was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Dorthy will be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends. 

Dorthy is survived by her husband, Larry Austin of Bourbon; four children, Mary Johnston and husband, James, of Springfield, MO, Ronald Miller and wife, Jennifer, of Westminster, MD, Gary Miller and wife, Karen, of Wentzville, MO, and Michele Hellstern and husband, Frank, of Cabot, AR; two stepsons, Bradley Austin and wife, Nancy, of Ozark, MO, and Terry Austin and wife, Mary, of Edgar Springs, MO; 11 grandchildren, Bradley Mitchell and wife, Amber, of Centennial, CO, Brooke Keihm and husband, Drew, of Overland Park, KS, Ryan Miller of Glasgow, KY, Hunter Miller of Spokane, WA, Holly Miller of St. Louis, MO, Ronald Hosp of Fairview Heights, IL, Paige King of Granite City, IL, Austin Hosp of Collinsville, IL, Shelbye Kovach and husband, Matt, of Collinsville, IL, Tyeler Laboray of Collinsville, IL, and Piper Laboray of Collinsville, IL; three step-grandchildren, David Austin of Ozark, MO, Stephanie England and husband, Trent of Springfield, MO and Bryan Austin and wife, Rienna, of Evergreen, CO;  nine great-grandchildren, Mateo, Jake, Lauren, Carter, Bennett, Kayden, Kyrah, Jordan and Madalynn; three step great-grandchildren, Carson and Addilyn England and Alice Austin; six brothers and sisters, Wanda Lahmann of Sullivan, Francis Taylor of Sullivan, Betty Beers of Desoto, MO, Barbara Rhives of Festus, MO, May Turnbaugh of Springdale, AR, and Alvin Parker of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Shirley Greenwalt and husband, Ken, of Marion, IL; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Danny Ray Sappington; her parents, Herman and Gladine (Ash) Parker; grandson, Ben Miller; and three brothers, Albert, Dennis and Edward Parker. 

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 9-11 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, with Pastor Chester Lahmann officiating.  Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan.

Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are appreciated.
