Donna Mae Tayloe

Donna M. Tayloe, 85, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

Donna Mae was born on August 28, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Raymond L. and Clara E. (Nelson) Black. Donna was baptized at the Franklinville Methodist Church on October 5, 1941 and became a member of the Bourbon Methodist Church on April 13, 1952. Donna’s early years in school were spent in Naperville, Franklinville, and Marengo, IL, and she graduated from Bourbon High School in 1950. On May 11, 1952, Donna was united in marriage to Marvin Tayloe in Bourbon, Missouri. To this union two sons were born, Richard and Dale. Donna worked for Paramount Cap Company in Bourbon, as well as International Shoe Company in Sullivan. After Dale was born, she became a stay at home mom. She enjoyed baking pies, cakes, cookies and all kinds of good things for her family. She also canned and froze many vegetables from their big garden. Donna also loved growing lilies, roses and wildflowers. Donna and Marvin enjoyed traveling together; they drove the Alaskan Highway to Fairbanks, AK. Another adventure included the New England states, going on to Newfoundland. They also loved the West and were able to visit Yellowstone and Rocky Moutain National Parks on several occasions and she was proud to say they visited all of the state capitals, except for three. Donna’s favorite trip was when she and Marvin went to Germany and Austria in 1997.

Donna was the accountant for the family business, Quality Cabinet Shop, which they started in 1963. They were in business for over forty years and she worked side by side with Marvin helping refinish furniture, building and installing kitchen, bathroom and other types of cabinets. Working together they provided quality service to many customers in the Sullivan and surrounding areas. Donna will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Donna is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Marvin Tayloe; two sons, Richard Tayloe and wife, Judy of Fayette, MO; and Dale Tayloe and wife, Sharon of Cedar Falls, IA; four grandchildren, Marnie Schrader and husband, Denny of Kalona, IA; Mallory Moore of Roeland Park, KS; Katelynn Frank and husband, Shane of Hartsburg, MO; and Jacob Tayloe of Matthews, NC; five great grandchildren, Madeline Schrader, Caroline Schrader, Holden Schrader, Gavin Schrader and Kinley Frank; and many other dear friends and relatives.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond L. and Clara E. (Nelson) Black; and one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Goldie Black.

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan with Pastor Maggie Gann officiating.
