Donald G. Moss

Don Moss, age 64 of Japan, MO, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at SSM Heath St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, MO.

Don was born February 1, 1953 in Sullivan, MO the son of Whitson and June (Matthews) Moss. He grew up on the family farm in Japan and attended Strain-Japan Elementary and Sullivan High School, where he excelled in two of his lifelong passions of football and track. He furthered his education by obtaining a business degree from East Central College. After finishing college, he focused on starting a family and working the family farm in Japan. Don was united in marriage to Nancy Shetley on August 4, 1973 at Old Argo Presbyterian Church, in which this union was blessed with two boys, Jess and Clint, to whom Don became a very involved and dedicated father. For nearly 50 years, he worked and managed a nearby True Farms. He also continued to operate the family cattle farm during those years as well. He was active in promoting and protecting the interests of the local farming community. Don had many interests including hunting, fishing, farming, horseback riding and all things outdoors. Don enjoyed and committed many years coaching American Legion Baseball, Little league Baseball, Little League Football and Strain-Japan Basketball.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy (Shetley) Moss of Japan; two sons, Jess Moss and wife Chastity of Japan; Clint Moss and wife Katie of Sullivan; two grandchildren, Jase and Maddy Moss; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Whitson W. and Fairy June (Matthews) Moss and two brothers, John and Will Moss.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Old Argo Presbyterian Church with interment in Old Argo Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Don, if friends and family so choose, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Strain-Japan School Athletics.
