Don Quick
Don Quick, age 82, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in St, Louis, MO.
Donal Eugene (Don) was born on October 20, 1935 in Greely, MO, to Clyde W. and Mary (Ball) Quick. His father died as the result of an accident and his uncle took him to St. Louis at the age of 16, gave him 25 cents and told him it was time to be on his own. Don was a survivor and soon landed his first job at Shaw’s Garden. He made his living in Auto Body Repair. Don repaired and gave away many cars to folks who needed them. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. Don was united in marriage to Mildred Barbre on May 28, 1956 and they were blessed with four children: Diana, Donnie, Tammy and Terry. Don and Millie raised their family in St. Louis and moved to Sullivan in 1978.
Don was blessed with the gift of music and poetry. He recorded several albums of Southern Gospel Music and wrote many volumes of poetry. Don could make novelty guitars out of almost anything. He was a member of Sullivan Family Worship Center in Sullivan. After the death of his wife, Millie, Don was married to Dorolene Chrisco and they made their home in Rolla, MO.
Don is survived by his wife, Dorolene Quick of Rolla, MO; two children, Donnie Quick and wife Sandra of Bourbon and Tammy Buhl and husband Ahren of Rogers, AR; nine grandchildren, Tina Flowers and husband Barry, Eric Ledbetter and wife Elizabeth, Natasha McIntosh and husband Darrell, Kevin Umfress, Melissa Martin and husband Joey, Mindy Quick, Ahren, William and Philip Buhl; 12 great grandchildren, Shayla, Joshua, Travest, Vada, Jacqueline, Amber, Destiny, Malachi, Tamia, Zackary, Zane and Maverick; four great-great-grandchildren, Braxton, Jaxon, Liam and Logan; two brothers, Terry Quick and wife Sharon of Bunker, MO, and BB Hubbs and wife Marsha of Texas; one sister, Virginia Pearson and husband Neal of Minnesota; nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Barbre) Quick; two children, Diana Ledbetter and Terry Quick; and his parents, Clyde and Mary (Ball) Quick.
Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Sullivan Family Worship Center, with Pastor Duncan Skiles as the officiant. Burial followed in Bay Cemetery, Bunker, MO.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Sullivan Family Worship Center.
