Dan F. Thurman, Sr., age 82, of Cuba, MO, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

Dan Franklin Thurman, Sr. was born on December 19, 1935 in St. Louis, MO, to the late Howard and Bessie (Chaffin) Thurman. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Nelson; one son, Donald Thurman; a sister, Helen; and two brothers, Jim and John. Dan was united in marriage to Loetta Faye Hoch on August 31, 1953, and they were blessed with four children, Dana, Dianna, Dan, Jr. and Donald. He was very devoted to his family. Dan worked as a Police Officer for many years and was Chief of Police of Bridgeton Terrace, MO. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 600 and worked for Pic Walsh Trucking. Dan would also dress up as a clown and Santa for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He loved hunting, fishing and bowling. Dan will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Loetta F. Thurman; two children, Dianna Thurman of Davisville, MO, and Dan F. Thurman, Jr. (Kellie Hodges) of Cuba, MO; five grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Stacy, Jason and Jennifer; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan and Shirley; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. The family of Mr. Thurman received friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Inurnment followed in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan.
