Charles William Buchanan of Leasburg, MO, was born to the union of Noble R. and Margaret E. (Nee: Tincher) Buchanan on Wednesday, October 29, 1947 in Salem, IN. He left from this life, at his home, on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the age of 72 years.

Charles was united in marriage to Nora Aldridge on June 13, 1967 in El Monte, CA. To this union three children were born; William Lee, Charlene and Dean.

Charles honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Cuba Memorial Post # 522 A.L.

Charles was a “Jack of All Trades”. He could just about fix anything, from being a carpenter to a mechanic. He retired as the Maintenance Supervisor at Meramec State Park. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hiking, fishing, mushroom hunting or taking care of the wildlife.

His family was the most important part of his life, he enjoyed being with all of them and he might even be known to aggravate them all a time or two.

Charles was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Noble R. and Margaret E. (Tincher) Buchanan; one daughter Charlene D. Buchanan; one brother Donnie Buchanan; three sisters Peggy Spears, Norma Spears, Charlotte Lykins and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife, Nora Buchanan of the home; two sons, William Lee and wife Jean Marie Buchanan of Leasburg, MO, Dean Buchanan and girlfriend Cindy Robertson of St. Clair, MO; eight grandchildren, Ashley and husband Matt Garrison, Shayna Buchanan and fiancé Cody James, Trevor and wife Taylor Travis, Emily Buchanan, Jozef Buchanan, Zachary Stockhorst, Charles Ray Buchanan, Quintin Buchanan; six great-grandchildren, Trentin, Tucker, Charli, Stella, Aubree and Chloe; two sisters, Dorothy and husband Dennis Fleming of Pekin, IN, Carol Raisor of Salem, Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Karen Leza of Japan, MO, Janice Colgate of Sullivan, MO, Faye Einfalt of Chino, CA; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the VFW Post #7147, 704 E. Washington Street, Cuba, MO.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the VFW Post #7147.

In keeping with his wishes, Charles will be cremated following the visitation and funeral service.

A private inurnment, with military honors, will be held at the Logan Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to VFW Post #7147 704 E. Washington Street, Cuba, MO.
