Carole Don Wensel Passed Away on July 5, 2021

Carole Don Wensel, age 86, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away surrounded by her family, on Monday, July, 5, 2021.

Carole Don Wensel was born to the union of BJ and Oleta Tidmore on February 13, 1935. Carole attended Springfield High School and graduated in 1953. Her love of cheerleading in high school was passed on to her own two girls and granddaughters. She met the love of her life, Jack and on December 15th, 1956, Carole Don Tidmore was married to John (Jack) Douglas Wensel.

Jack and Carole are the parents of three children; John Douglas (Doug) Jr., Rebecca Rachel (Becky) and Emily Don. Jack and Carole lived in Sullivan, MO for over 40 years, then retired to Springfield, MO for 20 years, and recently relocated to Florida to be closer to their family.

Carole was an active member in both the Sullivan Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, MO and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield, MO. She taught Sunday school, bible school and loved helping in the church kitchen and with the church bazaars.

Carole’s favorite career days were when she spent time with 3,4, and 5 year olds as the Director of Sullivan Montessori School. She took great pride in being the beloved Mrs. Wensel to all who attended Montessori.

Carole’s favorite family days were spent attending her children and grandchildren’s events.  You could often find her shopping or sitting at the kitchen table having coffee with her husband and friends. She loves spending time at Lake of the Ozarks on the houseboat. She referred to the “days of wine and roses” often. Carole lit up a room with her style, grace, and sense of humor.

Carole is survived by her husband Jack; her children, Becky (Ren) Batteen, Emily (Rob) Feltner, grandchildren; Beth (Mitch) Robbins, Ben Wensel, Kati (Jared) Moore, Molly Killian, Kurt (Ashley) Batteen, Adair (Jessica) Batteen, Bailey Batteen; Chase (Rhiannon) Weiskopf, Chad Weiskopf, Emma Weiskopf, Matthew and Noah Feltner; great grandchildren: Jack Robbins, Rachel Robbins, Charlie Moore, Auguste Moore, Jace Batteen, Hyatt Batteen, Mari Batteen, and Tate Batteen; Riley Weiskopf and Callie Weiskopf.

She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Tidmore, sister-in-law Kathy Tidmore, nieces and nephews, and numerous special friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her son Doug, parents BJ and Oleta Tidmore and her mother and father-in-law,  Arthur and Madella Wensel.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm. Monday, July 12, 2021 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 S. Lone Pine Ave. Springfield, MO 65804.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am -1:00pm, Monday, prior to the services at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
