Carol Jean Sappington, nee Frye, of Bourbon, MO was born on Friday, February 25, 1944 in Springfield, MO to Lawrence Ray Frye and Vernis Reed Frye.  She passed away at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Carol graduated from Sullivan High School with the class of 1962.  She married Colin Kelly Sappington on March 2, 1968 in Union, MO, had three sons and enjoyed 51 years of marriage.  They had lived in Sullivan and Stanton after being married, but moved to their forever home on a farm in Bourbon in 1980. Carol had taken some classes at East Central College and she and Colin took Real Estate classes in the 70s. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, worked various places such as Aerofil and as a mail carrier in Sullivan, a Census worker, Holiday Inn in Sullivan and the Windmill in Stanton.  She played the piano at St. Clair Christian Church and at Fairview Baptist Church in Bourbon for many years.  Carol enjoyed to garden and can their harvest, cook and also sew. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence “Ray” and Vernis Frye; parents-in-law Champ Clark and Allie Sappington; sister-in-law, Vera Sappington-Alexander and daughter-in-law, Melinda Sappington.

She is survived by her husband, Colin Kelly Sappington of Bourbon, MO; sons Kurt Watson of Steelville, MO, Keith (Lisa) Sappington of Leslie, MO and Kevin Sappington of Bourbon, MO; grandchildren Kamiella Watson of Steelville, MO, Kayley Sappington of St Louis, MO, Emily Sappington and Blaine Sappington both of Leslie, MO and Makenna Sappington of Bourbon, MO; brother Larry Frye of Bourbon, MO; sisters LaRae (Darrell) Bailey of Leasburg, MO and  Laura (Gary) Juergens of Sullivan, MO; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Cain (David George) of Bourbon, MO and Janet (Ronald) West of Sullivan, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition. A private memorial service will be held at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Pastor Kyle Phillips of First Assembly, Sullivan, MO officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Heart or Lung Association.
