Butch Hunter

Butch Hunter, age 51, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 in Montgomery County, IL, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Butch was born on June 28, 1968 in Washington, MO, the son of Lana (Atkins) Sutfin. He was raised in the Grubville/Dittmer area and graduated from St. Clair High School. Most of his life, Butch was employed in the construction trade. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, flower gardening, collecting rocks and scrap metal. Most of all, he loved his family and will be remembered for his great big smile. 

Butch is survived by four children: Jarrod Hunter (Brandi Hobson) of Sullivan, MO, Joshua Hunter (Chazeray Hulsey) of Bourbon, MO, Alecialinn Hunter (Joshua Smith) of Gerald, MO, and Jonah Hunter (Aryn Stevens) of Bourbon, MO; his mother, Lana (Atkins) Sutfin and husband Lou of Stanton, MO; his grandmother, Joan Atkins; 13 grandchildren, Haley and Brock Hobson, Lucas, Easton and Odin Hunter, Kale and Korielle Hulsey, Izarra, Izabella, Kaelinn, Kaiden and Kinsley Smith and Avery Stevens; two brothers, Trevis Sutfin and Nick Hunter and wife, Lisa; one sister, Jennifer Dixon and husband Aaron of Union, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stacy Hunter.

A Memorial Service was conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, officiated by Pastor Matt Dudley.

The Hunter family will receive friends and extended family from 9-11 a.m., Monday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family for funeral costs and Butch’s debt.
