Bonita Louise Summers

Bonita Louise "Bon" Summers, age 82, passed away on April 10, 2019 at the Ponce Therapy Care Center in St. Augustine, FL. Born in St. Louis, MO, Bon grew up in Sullivan, MO, where she was a graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 1955. She assisted her parents with the family businesses, which included establishing  the L&B Books bookstore with her mother, Louise Wilkinson. 

Bon attended Southwest Missouri State University,  after which she married and lived in Pacific, MO, for over twenty years while raising her children. Bon is the former wife of the late William Dean Summers of Anthony's Mill, MO. In 1988, Bon relocated to the East Coast and worked in a series of bookstores up and down the Atlantic, bringing the joy of books to everyone she met. In 1998, Bon relocated to St. Augustine, where she became the Owner/Operator of Ancient City Booksellers, specializing in rare and out-of-print books. Bon had a lifelong passion for books. She was a voracious reader and a talented author. Her purpose in life was to spread that same passion to others. A devoted mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family.

Bon is survived by her son, Paul Edward Summers, daughter-in-law  Bianca Sava Summers, granddaughter Andrea Louise Summers of Auckland, New Zealand; and her daughter, Ann Louise Summers of Washington, D.C.

Bon was a strong advocate of the Smile Train organization. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Smile Train would be appreciated as an enduring legacy to Bon's  life.  The Smile Train website is located at: www.smiletrain.org/donate.
