Elizabeth L. Matlock “Betty,” age 82, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. 

Elizabeth Louise, known as Betty, was born in St. Clair, MO, on November 8, 1935 to the late Charles F. and Charlotte A. (Collins) Sibole. She grew up and attended school in Sullivan and was in the graduating class of 1954. Betty was united in marriage to Gordon Matlock on October 15, 1955 in Sullivan. To this union, four children were born: Eric, Dianna, Marleen and Camella. Betty and Gordon raised their family together and then later divorced. Betty loved children and she invested a lot of her time into babysitting many children in Sullivan. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She also enjoyed being a part of her Ukulele Group, the Dipsy Doodles. Betty loved traveling with her sister, Doris; they took many trips and cruises together. She would also visit her children in other states. Betty was very sweet and loved by many. She could always light up a room. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by four children, Eric Matlock and husband Christopher of Denver, CO, Dianna Schmitt and husband Rick of Ballwin, MO, Marleen Prater and husband David of Grosse Pointe, MI and Camella Spriggs and husband James of Webster Groves, MO; one sister, Doris Hallam and husband Joe of Sullivan; eight grandchildren, Charlotte Sappington and husband Jacob of Sullivan, Margie Schmitt of St. Louis, Jake Prater of Grosse Pointe, MI, Rylie Spriggs, Jeremy Spriggs and Adrienne Spriggs, all of Webster Groves, Liam Matlock and Ryder Matlock, both of Denver, CO; one great-grandson, Weston Sappington; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her previous husband, Gordon Matlock and her parents, Charles F. and Charlotte A. (Collins) Sibole. 

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan. 

Funeral Services were conducted 1 p.m., Friday, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment followed in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan. 

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Halo Organization of Sullivan, MO.
