Betty L. Murdock

Betty L. Murdock, age 87, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Betty Lou was born on July 24, 1932 in Burr, MO, the daughter of Tom and Rena (King) Murphy. She was united in marriage to Lyndal Murdock on December 22, 1949 in Pocahontas, AR. Betty and Lyndal spent most of their married life on the farm in New Haven, MO; however, they did live in Poplar Bluff for 14 years and have been in the Sullivan area since 2011. They enjoyed a wonderful life together. Just one day after their 70th wedding anniversary, Betty passed from this life.  

Through the years, Betty and Lyndal built many houses together. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Betty enjoyed traveling, bowling, yard work and flower gardening. She also loved to gamble; going to Las Vegas, Tunica, Mississippi and Hollywood Casino in St. Louis. Betty will be missed by all who knew her. 

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Lyndal Murdock of Sullivan, MO; two children, Richard Murdock and wife Denise of New Haven, MO and Elizabeth Amrein and husband Kevin of New Haven, MO; seven grandchildren: Kristina McClendon and husband Brandon of Florissant, MO, Rachelle Haney and husband Stanley of O’Fallon, MO, Michael Murdock of New Haven, MO, Kelly Murdock of Gerald, MO, Kyle Murdock of New Haven, MO, Nicole Novak of Union, MO and Thomas Amrein and wife Sara of Sullivan, MO; 11 great-grandchildren: Joseph, Ashley, Briana, Alexis, Zachary, Demetrius, Oliver, Dana, Luna, Bryce and Raelynn; two great-great-grandchildren, Colton and Olivia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two children, Gary and Kevin Murdock; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma Cates and HilmaLee Welker and husband Tommy. 

It was Betty’s desire to be cremated. There will be no services at this time.
