Barbara Massie, age 78, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Barbara Ann Massie was born February 7, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. She was the youngest of 9 children of Robert and Amelia (Carolton) Allen.  Barbara attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in May 1959.  She was united in marriage to James Lewis Massie on December 26, 1960 in St. Louis, MO. They shared fifty-seven years of marriage together and were blessed with four children, Steve, Bob, Tom, and Laura. James and Barbara moved to Bourbon, MO in 1977. Barbara loved spending time with her family, doting on her grandchildren and travel. Barbara was an active church member and enjoyed volunteering at the Bourbon Thrift Store. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Stephen Massie and wife, Teresa, of Grand Rapids, MI, Robert Massie and wife, Nancy, of Bourbon, MO, Thomas Massie and wife, Cara, of Smithville, MO, and Laura Eoff and husband, Allen, of Bourbon, MO; two sisters, Mary Kretz of Chicago, IL, and Melba Baumgardner of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Robert Allen, Jr. of Bullhead City, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” L. Massie; her parents, Robert and Amelia Allen; five sisters, Amelia Mooney, Laura Verges, Dorothy Madden, Marion Miller, and Shirley Mitchell. 

Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, with Rev. Mary Avizenis as the officiant.  

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
