Barbara Jean Beckett nee Bell, age 79, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on February 3, 1939, in Sullivan, MO, to the late Raymond and Ethel (Richardson) Bell. She grew up and attended school in Sullivan. As a child, she worked at Shorty Wilkerson’s Malt Shop and sold tickets at the local movie theatre. Barbara was united in marriage to Harold Beckett on May 11, 1956 in Gainesville, TX. They were blessed with four children: David, Michael, Donna and Randy. Barbara devoted her time to raising her children in the home that Harold built for them and helping on the family farm. After the kids grew older, Barbara worked at the Bourbon schools as a cook and later at Paramount Headwear for 15 years.

Barbara was described as being an all-star homemaker. She not only enjoyed raising her own children, but was considered a “second mom” to all of her children’s friends, welcoming them into her home as if they were her own. Barbara liked to bake and read in her spare time. She enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball and Wheel of Fortune on TV, playing video games, card games and talking with friends on the phone or thru Facebook. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Sullivan as a youth then later attended in Bourbon. Barbara was a woman of strong faith, prayed daily for all in need, and believed everything in life was a part of God’s plan. Barbara was known to always have a smile and a giggle during every conversation. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Beckett of Bourbon; two sons, David Beckett of Bourbon, and Randy Beckett and wife Denise of Bourbon; one daughter, Donna Eoff and husband James of Bourbon; three grandchildren, Erica Hernandez and husband Robert of California, Blake Beckett of Bourbon, and Beau Beckett of Bourbon; one brother, Stanley Bell and wife Darlene of Bourbon; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
