Audrey J. Spindler

Audrey J. Spindler, age 83, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. 

Audrey June was born on June 8, 1935 in Sullivan, MO, to Edgar Herbert and Sarah Rebecca (Bandy) Reed. Audrey was married to Robert Sego on August 22, 1953 and they had two children, Peter and Christina. After 18 years of marriage, they divorced. She later married Merle Spindler on March 13, 1981. 

In her younger days, Audrey loved playing cards and made many trips to her favorite place, Las Vegas. She was employed by the former Arro Mini Mart for 18 years and was known for her dry sense of humor and great one-liners. Upon the closing of Arro, Audrey retired and chose to stay home to care for her beloved grandson, Jordan.  Audrey adored Jordan; he was the light of her life. She enjoyed taking him shopping and spoiling him as much as possible. Audrey was a great cook and a wonderful pie maker. She made many pies for funeral dinners at First Assembly of God, where she was a member and good friend to many. She also enjoyed watching the Cardinals, reading, flower gardening and listening to music. Audrey will be missed by her family, church family and many friends. 

Audrey is survived by her husband, Merle Spindler of Sullivan; her daughter, Christina Sego of Sullivan; beloved grandson, Jordan Sego of Sullivan; stepson, Jerry Spindler of Steelville; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Reed of Sullivan, and Don “Butch” Reed of Sullivan; special cousins, Victor and Darlene Moss of Sullivan; special friend, Suzi Davis of Cuba; nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Peter Sego; her parents, Edgar and Sarah (Bandy) Reed; and sister, Shirley Woodcock. 

A Memorial service was conducted 12 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at First Assembly of God in Sullivan, with Pastor Kyle Phillips as the officiant. The family received friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, at First Assembly of God. 

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan & Bourbon, MO.
