Arnold W. Holzerland

Arnold W. Holzerland, age 80, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. His gracious and loving God relieved Arnie from all his suffering. Arnie is now with Christ in his eternal home in Heaven.

Arnold Walter Holzerland’s earthly life began on a farm near Waubay, SD, on December 19, 1937. He was the son of Eric and Minnie Holzerland and the younger brother of Marlys Green. On February 13, 1937, he was taken to Zion Lutheran Church in Waubay, where he was baptized and became a child of the God he loved and served all his earthly life. During his 80 plus years, he was a farmer near Waubay, served his country in the Army, attended South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, South Dakota State University and graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska, as a Lutheran School teacher.

Those who remain to mourn Arnie’s death are his wife, Barbara Ulrich; his 3 children, Rev. Timothy Holzerland and his wife, Kimberly of Detroit, MI, Lydia Holzerland of Galesburg, MI, and David Holzerland and wife, Julie of Rolla, MO; 3 grandchildren, Alex, Noah and Joshua of Rolla, MO; his sister, Marlys Green of Cresbard, SD; and numerous sisters-in law, brothers-in-law and lots of friends.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents; and brothers-in-law, Claude Green and Robert Ulrich.

Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rolla, Missouri, with Rev. Eric Swyres presiding. Interment followed in Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. There was a short devotional that began at 4 p.m.
