It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew Thomas Boyer, Sr., age 70, announces his passing on Monday, April 23, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his family.

Andrew was born on September 22, 1947 in St. Louis, MO. He spent most of his life residing in Potosi and Sullivan, MO. He was a longtime member of the Pea Ridge Pentecostal Church in Sullivan. Andrew was a passionate man who enjoyed serving his country in Vietnam as Lt. in the Army and was proud of his Purple Heart. After returning home from the war, he spent most of his career as an over the road truck driver and as a miner at Pea Ridge Iron Ore Mines. In 2001, he retired from Pea Ridge after 22 years of service.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoyed working with his hands as an outstanding mechanic. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, driving down old country roads in his truck, listening to music, reading his Bible and family vacations. His favorite vacationing spot was in Dauphin Island, where he could sit on the beach and watch the sunset over the ocean. He also enjoyed sitting on a porch swing with a cup of coffee in his hand. He enjoyed cleaning his guns and sharing hunting and war stories with his family. Above all else, he loved his wife and family.

Andrew raised a heaping pile of kids; not because he had to, but because he wanted to. He loved all of his kids and grandkids more than anything. He had a huge heart and he always knew how to keep them grounded and enjoyed giving them advice, guidance and long conversations.

Andrew will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Velma (Bridgeman) Boyer of Sullivan and his 9 children, Andrew Boyer, Jr. and wife Kathy of St. James, Leo Boyer of Leasburg, Angela Barton and husband Jason of Bourbon, Jesse Boyer and wife Jennette of Kokomo, IN, James Boyer of Steelville, Billie Jean Garner and husband Jeremy of Sullivan, Steven Maune of Sullivan and Cody Maune (s/o Destiny Dell) of Sullivan; two step-daughters, Pam Osick and husband John of Sullivan and Amanda Plank of Van Buren. He will also be fondly remembered by his 30 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one brother, Leo Boyer, Jr. and wife Sharon of Union.

Andrew was preceded in death by one son, Charles Boyer; his mother, Eula (Miller) Boyer; his father, Leo Boyer, Sr.; three sisters, Elenora Britton (husband Lennard), Mabel Norwood (husband Virgil) and Ruth Barrett; and one brother, Lester Boyer (wife Donna).
