Alice M. Whitney

Alice M. Whitney, 93, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2017 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

Alice Margaret was born on May 3, 1924 in St. Louis, MO. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis. Alice was united in marriage to Walter H. Whitney on April 5, 1942. Of this marriage, came their four children: Walter, Suzie, Connie and Sandy. They raised their family in Overland, MO. In 1979, they moved to Cuba, MO and after retirement, they moved to Bourbon. Alice was a devoted member of the Jehovah witness congregation of Sullivan and was known for doing an extensive amount of volunteer work. Alice will be remembered by her many talents; she was a seamstress, great gardener, master bread maker and overall good cook and wonderful homemaker.

Alice is survived by one son, Walter Whitney and wife Carol of Sullivan, MO; three daughters, Suzie Bartle and husband Stephen of Bourbon, MO; Connie Butler and husband Gary of OR; Sandy Armitage and husband Bill of Central Point, OR; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Whitney; her mother, Maudie Bernice Hansard and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Lewis.

A Memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sullivan, MO.
