Youth Livestock Event Has $193,000 In Livestock Sales
The youth livestock event and auction was held at the Sullivan Fairgrounds Thursday through Saturday, which concluded with the annual auction that saw some $193,000 from local businesses used to purchase livestock.
The event went on without the Meramec Community Fair due to the COVID-19 cancellation of the fair for 2020.
Sue Koch, Livestock Chairperson, stated that while they were down some 25 kids due to their unknowing what the impact of COVID-19 would do to the event, things went very well with animals bringing $1 to $1.50 more per pound during the sale.
“We actually probably had more buyers than we did animals Saturday,” said Koch. “We were very pleased with the three-day event and how things turned out for the program.”
