Washington Sears New Owners Excited About Future Of Business

The Sears Hometown Store, 1048 Washington Square, Washington, under new owners Mike Raines and Mike Orth is not part of the Sears Holdings Corporation Chapter 11 bankruptcy, recently announced in October, and in fact is moving in a positive direction since the two took ownership of the area business in early 2018.

The duo ownership team stated that they are excited to continue to show the community what their store has to offer under their ownership.

“We feel like we have better service, fresh faces and more community involvement that will make our ownership vision of this store even better,” said Raines. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc., have not filed for bankruptcy and are not part of the Sears Holding Corporation bankruptcy which is important for the public to know, according to Raines and Orth.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. in a publicly owned company traded on NASDAQ that separated from Sears Holdings in 2012. It remains business as usual at all of the locations that include more than 750 retail stores in 49 states across the nation, which are operated by dealer owners and franchisees.

These stores are operated under various names including: Sears Hometown, Sears Appliance and Hardware Sears Home Appliance Showroom, Sears Outlet and Buddy’s Home Furnishings franchise.

Raines and Orth have been with Sears some 11 years combined, prior to taking ownership of the Washington store.

“We have a lot of customers that come from throughout the area to shop with us and we look forward to continuing to work with them and building this business,” said Raines. “Despite some Sears stores closing we are here to stay.
