Washington Man Accused Of Shooting Grandfather

A Washington man is accused of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his grandfather Dec. 5 in the 2700 block of Newport Road.

Jeremiah Bair, 25, also is charged with armed criminal action and his bond has been set at $250,000.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, around 8:41 a.m., authorities were dispatched for a shooting. Harold Humphrey, 86, was found dead in the kitchen. 

The victim’s wife and grandson, Bair, were at the scene and an investigation revealed he had shot Humphrey in the chest. Bair called 911 and waited for law enforcement to arrive. 

Authorities say Bair showed up at the residence at 8:30 a.m. and an argument ensued, leading to the shooting.
