Washington County Woman Drowns In Big River
A Washington County woman drowned in the Big River on Tuesday, becoming Missouri’s seventh drowning victim in June.
Monica P. Boyer, 67, Cadet, was wading in the Big River at the Washington State Park Boat Access when the water became too deep.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Boyer slipped and fell underneath the surface.
Her body was recovered at 3:27 p.m., an hour after she went under.
Boyer was not wearing a safety device.
She is the second drowning victim on the Big River in the last four days.
A High Ridge man drowned at Byrnes Mill Park in Jefferson County on June 11 when the current became too swift and pulled him under.
Bennette Oxendine, 59, was recovered after 90 minutes.
