Warrant Issued On Non-Compliant Sex Offender

A warrant was issued January 24 against a non-compliant sex offender that was supposed to be living in St. Clair and was allegedly residing in St. Louis.

John D. Garrison has been charged in Franklin County with failure to register as a sex offender.

Sheriff Steven Pelton said as part of their mission to ensure citizens’ safety, they will continue to run compliance checks.

“Our office will continue to ensure that anyone that has been required by law to register as a sex offender has completed that and is compliant in the registration,” he said.

The check on Garrison was conducted June 24, 2019. During the check, investigators went to a home in the 2000 block of Sycamore Lane in St. Clair to verify the residency.

Although Garrison listed that as his address, he investigators discovered he had never moved in and was living in St. Louis.

Investigators attempted to make contact with Garrison at the St. Louis residence, but were initially unable to locate him.

Another attempt was made and Garrison was advised to update his address.
