Officer fires weapon into tire of fleeing vehicle
Sullivan police are searching for a St. Clair man after he allegedly backed into a patrol vehicle and nearly hit an officer, forcing the officer to discharge his weapon at the tire of the car on Aug. 16.
The man sped away eastbound on Interstate 44 where his vehicle was later found abandoned a short distance from the Sullivan city limits.
No officers were injured during the incident and the suspect is not believed to be injured.
According to the Sullivan Police Department, officers were on foot patrol at Walmart Supercenter when they observed a man who had outstanding warrants. The man eluded officers by leaving the store.
