Villa Ridge Man Fatally Struck, Driver Charged

A Villa Ridge man was fatally injured in an early morning hit and run on Sunday, May 2, at 3:10 a.m.
The driver has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident -- resulting in death.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when James C. Sitze, 21, Washington, struck Jason L. Gilley, 56. Gilley was walking in the right lane of Highway 100 at Cromwell Drive when Sitze allegedly struck him and then fled the scene.
Meramec Ambulance took Gilley to Mercy Hospital in Washington, where he was pronounced deceased at 3:52 a.m.
The highway patrol arrested Sitze, who has been released on bond.
