Villa Ridge Man Charged With Assault, Criminal Action

A Villa Ridge man was arrested Aug. 15 after he allegedly threatened a female victim with a knife and grabbed her.

The victim was able to push him away and flee the residence, but he followed her and took her phone so she couldn't call police.

Ricky L. Church, Jr is charged with two counts of domestic assault and one count of armed criminal action. His bond has been set at $35,000.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to the 600 block of Lakeshore Drive in Villa Ridge in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon further investigation, deputies learned there had been an altercation between Church and the female.

After the victim fled Church, she contacted another person in the area to contact the sheriff's office. Deputies located evidence at the scene and arrested Church.
