Vehicle Thefts, Catalytic Converter Thefts, Break-Ins Continue

The Sullivan Police Department is continuing to urge local residents to lock their vehicles and be vigilant around their property as thefts of vehicles, catalytic converters and vehicle break-ins continue.

"We are seeing spikes in these areas recently," said Sullivan Police Lt. Patrick Johnson. Johnson shared a video with the Sullivan Independent News' Facebook page that captured what appeared to be a thief targeting vehicles.

"The thief left the property once they determined the vehicle was locked," said Johnson. "We remind residents to lock their vehicles, make sure their outbuildings and garages are locked and stay alert to strangers in their areas."

Two vehicles also were reported stolen. They were recovered in Washington County where they had been wrecked and set on fire.
