Union Man Sentenced On Child Porn Charges

A Union man was sentenced December 17 to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for possession of child pornography.
Gary L. McGarity, Jr., 51, was found guilty October 29. The seven-year sentence is the maximum.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into McGarity in October 2014. A computer was identified offering to share child pornography online and the internet service provider identified the account holder as McGarity, who resided in the 500 block of West State Street in Union.
On January 29, 2015, the sheriff’s office, St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force and Union Police executed a search warrant.
McGarity admitted to downloading child pornography.
