Two Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Motor Vehicle

Two people were arrested after a stolen vehicle was recovered by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Cody W. Davis, 31, Gray Summit has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $100,000.

Davis had an active warrant from Phelps County for the same charge.

Another suspect, identified as a 24-year-old Marthasville female, has not yet been charged in the incident.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton, deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Clearview Road outside Union for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot.

The caller said a female parked her vehicle in the lot, then walked into a wooded area carrying “something heavy.”

When the deputy arrived, he observed Davis and the female attempting to change the tire on a vehicle reported stolen from the 100 block of Spencer Court near Pacific on January 11.

The ignition to the vehicle was damaged.

A 2016 Big Tex dump trailer also had been stolen from that location and is still missing.

Persons with information on the trailer should contact the sheriff’s office.
