Train Blocks Access To Stanton Residents/Workers

Highway W in Stanton was completely cut off for well over an hour last Monday as a Burlington-Northern Santa Fe train parked on the track, blocked the only ingress/egress for residents and workers located to the south of Interstate 44.

The Independent News received word shortly after 3 p.m. that a BNSF railway train had been blocking the Highway W crossing in Stanton for quite some time.

The caller claimed that they were growing concerned, not only because of their own delay, but also because “lines of vehicles” were forming, both to the north and south of the crossing.

According to the caller, a backup was extending down the eastbound I-44 exit ramp, which the caller was concerned would soon begin to block traffic lanes on the Interstate.
