Three Charged In Drug Overdose Death

Subjects face second-degree murder charges in connection with Crawford County woman's death

Three people have been charged with second-degree murder in the alleged drug overdose death of a Crawford County woman Oct. 17.

Nicholas Kunz, 22, Steelville; Cameron Frazier, 19, Sullivan and Andrea Harrelson, 23, Cuba, are charged in connection to the death.

Bonds have been set for each subject at $120,000. Kunz and Harrelson also face one count of delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Frazier faces one count of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit and Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group were conducting a follow-up investigation Oct. 18 on the death of the woman, who was found in the 300 block of Rohrer Street the previous night.

Authorities identified Kunz, Frazier and Harrelson as suspects. Kunz told LANEG officers Frazier had contacted him via Facebook asking if he knew where to purchase heroin. Kunz said he and Frazier bartered and settled on 12 “beans” (capsules) of heroin for $120.

During the late hours of Oct. 15 or the early morning of Oct. 16, Kunz and Harrelson picked up Frazier and the deceased at his residence, located on Nature Lane in Steelville. The parties traveled to a residence in Cuba to buy the capsules from a subject identified in the probable cause statement as “A.B.”

Kunz said Harrelson conducted the transaction with A.B. inside the residence and returned with the suspected heroin. Kunz said he received $5 for fuel and one capsule of heroin prior to leaving the Cuba area.

During a search of the deceased, one clear capsule containing a white powder residence was located that matched the description described by Kunz, Harrelson and Frazier.

Frazier said he gave one capsule each to Kunz and Harrelson and two to the deceased woman, while keeping eight for himself.

After the transaction, Frazier said Kunz drove he and the deceased to his residence, where they shared one of the capsules. The woman stayed overnight and left his residence Oct. 16 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
