Tennessee Man Drowns In Meramec River Saturday

A Nashville, Tenn., man drowned in the Meramec River Saturday afternoon, June 16, after he was swimming off a bluff along the river three miles upstream from the confluence of the Huzzah River.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol/Water Patrol they were notified Saturday at 3:15 p.m. that a male subject, identified as Adam M. Meinecke, 27, Nashville, was swimming off the bluff, when he submerged and failed to surface. 

The group with Meinecke called 911 and a search of the waters was conducted Saturday with dive team members unable to recover Meinecke. 

On Sunday divers resumed search efforts and were able to locate Meinecke in the area of water in which he did not resurface at 2:12 p.m.

Meinecke was pronounced deceased at the scene by Crawford County Deputy Coroner Darren Dake.

This was the first drowning in Troop I during 2018.
