Teens Shot During Marijuana Sale

Two teenagers were shot February 16 while attempting to sell marijuana to a suspect in the Robertsville area.

Servando Padilla, 17, St. Louis, was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton said deputies received information from the Washington Police Department regarding a shooting.

The officer said they had conducted a traffic stop involving two individuals with injuries.

The victims, who are identified as a 17-year-old male and 16-year-old female from the St. Louis area, said they had responded to an address in Robertsville to sell marijuana.

The male victim said when they arrived and pulled in the driveway, they were approached by two males.

One pulled a firearm and ordered the victim to give him the marijuana. As the male victim grabbed the firearm, the suspect discharged it, striking the victim in the hand. The bullet traveled through his hand and struck the female. She had injuries to her torso, upper thigh and right hand. Pelton said they are considered non-life threatening.

Deputies went to the 3000 block of Sunset Avenue where the incident allegedly occurred. Several people were inside the residence and a search warrant turned up the firearm, which had been hidden.
