Suspect Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after an officer-involved shooting Monday morning near the Cuba School District.
According to Cuba Police, around 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the rear parking lot for a repot of a male subject that appeared to be unconscious. The suspect was behind the wheel of his vehicle and officers located numerous capsules of suspected heroin/fentanyl, along with a firearm.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Cuba Police Department for further questioning.
Following the questioning, the suspect escaped custody and began running on foot. An officer pursued the suspect for approximately one block before he stole a truck that was left running in a nearby driveway.
Another Cuba officer pulled in behind the truck and attempted to take the suspect into custody, but he rammed the officer’s patrol vehicle.
Officers say they feared for their lives and fired at the suspect, who was secured and taken to St. Louis for medical treatment.
The highway patrol was called in to conduct an investigation.
Charges have not yet been filed.
