Suspect Dead, Officer Wounded In Shooting

UPDATE:

Cuba Police Chief Doug Shelton said one suspect was killed and a police officer wounded on Saturday after a reported officer-involved shooting in Cuba.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was shot in the leg and is expected to recover.

Around 1:30 p.m., the officer responded to a residence for a domestic disturbance. The officer made entry into the home to make contact with a male suspect, who was reportedly in possession of a firearm. The suspect allegedly fired first, striking the officer in the leg. The officer returned fire and struck the subject.

The officer was transported via helicopter for medical attention and the injuries are non-life threatening.

Shelto said the names of the parties involved are being withheld pending an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
