Suspect Charged With Assaulting Sheriff’s Deputy

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Villa Ridge man who allegedly assaulted a deputy while being taken into custody.

Samir Benzabeh faces charges for fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest.

He has been released on bond.

Deputies responded to the 1500 block of Espowe Lane in Villa Ridge to serve an order of protection against Benzabeh, who refused to leave after several orders.

Benzabeh was told he was under arrest and continued to defy deputies.

He allegedly assaulted one of the deputies and continued resisting as they took him into custody.
