Sullivan Man Arrested For Assault

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sullivan man after discovering that a female victim sustained a cut six inches long and around two inches deep on her back.

Joseph Freeman, 36, is charged with second-degree domestic assault. Freeman’s bond was set at $75,000.

According to Sheriff Steven Pelton, deputies received an anonymous call around 10:15 a.m. on April 10 to report a possible domestic assault at the 400 block of East Springfield Road.

Deputies were told that the reporting party discovered a picture showing injuries of the assault.

The female victim verified her injuries to deputies. She reportedly was bandaged up at home without any professional medical treatment.

Contact was made with Freeman, who was detained. Evidence was discovered and numerous witness statements confirmed the assault took place.

Pelton did not say what caused the wound.
