Sullivan Area Arts Council Glass Etching Class July 29

The Sullivan Area Arts Council is hosting a glass etching class Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 952 North Church Street.

Cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members and tickets are available for purchase at www.sullivanareaartscouncil.org or the Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees will learn how to use a template to chemically etch glass and take home a pair of etched jars, cutting tool, safety goggles and skills to etch any glass surface on their own.

Class size is limited and attendees must be 18 or older.

The class will be taught by Diana Prusik and Pam Campbell. Campbell is an award-winning artist whose work has been selected for juried exhibit and she is passionate about all things creative. Campbell is a graduate of Sullivan High School and East Central College and a lifelong Sullivan resident. Prusik is an art instructor for Paint Nite, the nation's largest paint party company. She is a published author, photographer and artist whose work has been selected for juried exhibits. The Sullivan Area Arts Council is planning several more events in the coming months, including a silk scarf-dying workshop on Aug. 26; calligraphy clinics Sept. 5, Sept. 12 and Sept. 19; a bluegrass music night on Oct. 14; a wine glass painting Paint Nite party this fall and a Sullivan Community Choir event on a date to be determined.

The arts council is dedicated to improving community awareness and appreciation of the arts. Everyone is invited to join in this endeavor by becoming members and volunteering. Individual, family and business level memberships are tax-deductible. Volunteers are asked to serve on sub-committees and assist with event planning and staffing. They are not required to be artistically inclined to participate, just a desire for community involvement and an interest in the arts.
