Strong Winds Fuel Garage Fire Thursday, Leaving Total Loss

A 40’ by 60’ garage was a total loss Thursday afternoon, March 14,  after 50 mph winds helped fuel a garage fire that spread quickly destroying all the contents of the building.

According to Sullivan Fire Chief Eric Lewis, firefighters were called to the 300 block of Long Ridge Estates after a nearby neighbor noticed a large column of smoke coming from a neighbor’s property and notified emergency services at 4:38 p.m.

“We arrived on the scene of the fire to find the shed/garage fully involved with a full collapse of the structure,” said Chief Lewis. “Prior to our arrival we were alerted that the building was consumed with fire with a partial roof collapse, with the strong winds we had on Thursday it helped to spread the fire quickly.”
