St. Clair Man Dies From Gunshot Wounds

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a 26-year-old St. Clair man early Sunday at the Julia Ann Apartments in Washington.
According to Sheriff Steve Pelton, a man was taken into custody for further questioning. The case will be forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for possible charges.
The gunshot victim reportedly confronted a tenant's friend standing outside the apartment smoking. Witnesses said the male entered an apartment and began to argue with occupants, which led to a physical altercation. During the altercation, the apartment tenant shot the man with a small caliber pistol.
He was transported to Mercy Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
