Some Races Form For April Election As Filing Concludes

There will not be any contested races in the City of Sullivan nor Sullivan School District after filing concluded on Tuesday, January 21; however Spring Bluff School District and Sullivan Fire Protection District will see contested races while Strain-Japan School will seek write-in candidates to fill three of the four positions open in the April 7 election.

Incumbents in the City of Sullivan, including Alderman Ward One, Mark Dalton, Ward Two Jason Alexander and Ward Three Paul McCulloch will all run unopposed for the three two-year terms while in the Sullivan School District saw all three incumbents, seeking three-year terms, also run unopposed with Jeff Dace, Chase Darrah and Jimmie Frye all seeking re-election.

In the Sullivan Fire Protection District, incumbent Danny Banning will seek re-election to a six-year term on the Board of Directors by challengers Robert Mesger and Jordan Tod.

Spring Bluff School District will see five candidates seek three three-year terms on the Board of Education with Kurtis Reed, incumbents Jill Wagner, Bradley Newman, Melissa Herron and David Schatz all seeking the board seats. Two other incumbents, Jarrod Head and Michael Lohden chose not to seek re-election.

The Strain-Japan School District has three three-year terms and one one-year unexpired term on the April ballot with only one candidate, incumbent Caren Vogt seeking re-election. The other positions will have to be filed by write-in candidates. Incumbents Amy Voss, Chassity Moss and Jake Turner did not seek re-election.
