Sheriff’s Office Running Checks On Domestic Violence, Sex Offenders

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is running checks on domestic violence and sex offenders to ensure compliance.

“The safety of our citizens is the priority and the sheriff’s office is committed to taking a proactive approach,” said Sheriff Steven Pelton.

Pelton said the sheriff’s office joined efforts with state Probation and Parole District 16 to conduct home visits October 21 on 79 domestic violence offenders.

During the checks, deputies made two felony drug arrests — a 44-year-old male from Washington and a 45-year-old male from Sullivan.

The names are being withheld pending formal charges.

“Through this collaboration it is our goal to build positive relationships with the offenders and help increase the completion of their probation or parole,” Pelton said. “This collaboration will also improve familiarity and communication between Probation and Parole Officers and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office which will help ensure the safety of our citizens.”

Sex Offender Compliance

The sheriff’s office is focusing its efforts on locating a sex offender.

Donald Wybark, 46, has an active felony warrant for failure to appear on a burglary charge in Greene County. His last known address was in the St. Clair area.

People with knowledge of Wybark’s whereabouts are asked to contact the detective division at Franklin County Sheriff’s Office 636-583-2560. Pelton said it is possible that he is in the Franklin County area. Callers may remain anonymous.

Sex Offender Arrested

A non-compliant sex offender was arrested in St. Louis on October 21. Cooper has an active felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender with a $20,000 bond.
