Sheriff’s Department Identifies Victim Found In Vehicle

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday the medical examiner’s office identified Michael A. Schaefer, 30, Owensville as the deceased individual found in a vehicle at the former Burger King parking lot.
Schaefer had been listed as a missing person since Dec. 11, 2017.
Schaefer’s body was found Monday night after reports of a foul smell emanating from it.
The vehicle was a stolen 2012 Toyota Corolla from Owensville.
Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton said the investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Maries County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Owensville Police Department.
