Rice Promoted To Sullivan Fire Marshal

A 30-year veteran with the Sullivan Fire Protection District has been promoted by the Board of Directors to the position of fire marshal.

Corey Rice is a full-time fire captain/paramedic with the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District but has also served on the Sullivan Fire Protection District for 30 years where he has began or operated numerous programs including the Junior Academy and Junior Firefighter programs, water rescue/dive team and various other positions in the district.

Rice replaced former Fire Marshal Jason Hoevelmann, who resigned after being promoted to Chief of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District.

Both Rice and Hoevelmann played keys roles in the history of the Sullivan Fire Protection District serving in the junior program and working their way up the ranks.

Like Hoevelmann, Rice will be serving in the position during his time away from the Maryland Heights District each week.

The promotion was made in late June upon Rice’s appointment to fire marshal by the Sullivan Fire Protection District.

The July 10 issue of the Independent News incorrectly printed Corey Rice's name. We apologize for this mistake.
