Police Discuss Fireworks Calls In 2021
Sullivan Police Lt. Patrick Johnson reported Monday that calls for fireworks being discharged in the city limits were down this year compared to previous years.
The department worked to enforce city code preventing the fireworks from being discharged in the city.
Johnson reminded residents prior to July 4 that officers would be issuing court summons for those found in violation.
“We worked hard to explain to the citizens that while we appreciate their celebrations for Independence Day, in the city of Sullivan, we have an ordinance against it. We don’t have fireworks stands in the city limits and we wanted people to respect their neighbors,” Johnson said.
